My convention season for this year had officially come to an end with Super Speedy Cider Con 2016 as my last convention for 2016. I want to thank those of you who came to my booth to buy a pony or just to say hello.
The convention was held in Knoxville, Tennessee. I've been to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Smoky Mountains area of Tennessee long ago, but I've never been to Knoxville. I was surprised to see that the convention would only last for two days instead of the usual three days as most conventions are, along with it being held at a Holiday Inn of all places, not saying that's bad, but I wouldn't expect a pony convention to happen there. The crowd was rather small, just a little over 200 people in attendance an it wasn't necessarily busy, so the artists had a lot of downtime to chat during the day, which I liked.
Because the attendance was so small and it was only a two day event, sales weren't that great. And for those of us in the Artist Alley, we were set up in an open area of the hotel which, while it provided ample foot traffic, wasn't the safest place to leave our stuff out over night. I'm still not sure why the vendor hall had a locked room overnight while we didn't.
The fact that the convention was so small and not too busy was the only thing that sticks out through my mind. I could actually was around the Artist Alley space without having to be cooped up at my table all weekend. Definitely a different experience to what I'm used to.
Now to plan for 2017!
Have a good day.
